Who I Am & Who I Serve
My name is McKenzie (she/they), and I'm so happy we've found each other. I am constantly humbled by the way those I work with encourage me to be a better human than I was yesterday. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and knew very early in my life that I wanted to call Central Oregon not just home, but my place of practice. When I'm not working, I enjoy hiking, starting and (sometimes) finishing crochet projects, gardening, playing videogames, and snuggling my corgis.
I hold a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bushnell University and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Oregon (C9459). I have spent over a decade of my life dedicated to serving others in many sectors including community mental health, residential treatment for teens and adolescents, day treatment, homeless youth shelters, and youth and family services. I am trained and certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and CBTp (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis). I am also completing the Eating Disorders Certificate Program at Lewis & Clark.
Therapy with me is a nonjudgmental, co-created, and safe space where I encourage you to show up as you are. My approach is direct and warm, and I love to squeeze in my sense of humor wherever I can. Therapy should be a compassionate and collaborative process where you are free and encouraged to express all of your experiences and emotions. I will show up as myself, and I want you to feel empowered to do the same.
My clients are ages 10 and up, and I provide them with individual therapy and/or family therapy. I am currently only offering telehealth appointments with plans to have an in-person space available in the near future. I work with people of all body sizes and shapes, abilities, genders, sexual orientations, relationship statuses, races, religions, and ethnicities. I am committed to anti-racist work and constantly learning how to do and be better while acknowledging my own privilege. I also am honored to help provide gender-affirming care. I make a point to explore with my clients the systemic oppression and trauma they have experienced which is almost always an inextricable part of a person's life story. Most of my clients are those on their eating disorder recovery journey, those wanting to heal their relationship with food and their body, individuals with trauma, as well as those with OCD, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders.
My hope is that our work together leads you to healing, self-compassion, empowerment, and enrichment and meaning in your relationships and in your life.
